Senior project 5-18-19 and 5-19-19

On Saturday, our group met in the training office to discuss about the Proctor 5k. We made copies of stickers that were going to be put on the racing numbers. On the sticker you could write down the time you got. It took quite awhile to take all of the stickers off and put them on the racing numbers and took us about an hour. Then race day came on Sunday and we had to wake up at 6:45. We helped set up the course and put down cones so the runners knew where to run. Also, We put out tables, water jugs, and cups for the runners. Then after the race we helped clean up the area and did all of this for two hours. We completed our 50 hours and have 50.5 hours going into the last few days of senior project.

Senior Project 5-2-19

Today was the longest day of work and learning so far. We went to the Concord Court house with Fiona Mills Honors U.S History class. We left school around 8:45 and got there at 9:30. We were fortunate enough to listen in on two cases. In the first one an Indian man wasn't a citizen of the United States but served in the military and was fighting to get his U.S citizenship. After that fascinating case, we ate some pizza together. The next case was absolutely crazy. A woman was involved in a huge fentanyl bust in Lawerence. She would received phone calls from buyers and then alert the drug dealers that buyers are coming to them. Over 400 grams of fentanyl was seized during this case. She pled guilty and is facing a minimum of 10 years in Prison. We left the prison around 1:30. We totaled about 4 and a half hours at the courthouse. This experience was really cool and we got a better background of what people may be going through and how we can keep there minds right.

Senior Project 5-21-19

Today for senior project we headed to the Merrimack County Jail for the last time. We got supplies yesterday and we were going to spray down the final lines. When we headed to the fitness space our posters were taken down and the track lines we made were gone. From there we sprayed down the three point line which was quite difficult. After adjusting the tape, we sprayed it down and it came out pretty well. We met with Mark after and he told us a class of inmates graduated on Friday so that may be the reason they took down the posters. Then we headed back to campus to do our sheets and we totaled about 3 hours today.

Senior Project 5-9-19

Today was a very productive day for our senior project group, we did a good amount of work in the jail and for the 3v3 basketball tournament. We went to the jail to get work done in the gym as usual. We created and hung up posters on the walls for the five exercises we made up. The five exercise were push ups, sit ups, wall sits, planks, and burpees. We made the posters so the inmates could write there names down, how many reps they completed or how long there times were. Also, they took some of the tape we put down for a free throw line and made it into a hand ball court. That was definitely helpful but we will have to reline the free throw line. When we came back to campus we went to lunch and got sign ups. Once lunch ended we made new fliers for the tournament and took down the old ones. We replaced them all around campus. We did 3.5 hours of work today.
