Senior Project 5-21-19

Today for senior project we headed to the Merrimack County Jail for the last time. We got supplies yesterday and we were going to spray down the final lines. When we headed to the fitness space our posters were taken down and the track lines we made were gone. From there we sprayed down the three point line which was quite difficult. After adjusting the tape, we sprayed it down and it came out pretty well. We met with Mark after and he told us a class of inmates graduated on Friday so that may be the reason they took down the posters. Then we headed back to campus to do our sheets and we totaled about 3 hours today.

There wasn't much more work we could do for today but we did prepare for tomorrow. We planned to go to the jail on Tuesday. The 5k and 3v3 basketball tournament happened and were successful. We did go out and get supplies for the jail. We went to the same store as before and got a bottle of spray paint and masking tape. We need to spray down a few more things like the three point line and little track course we made. We did about an hour of work today.

Weekly reflection #3

During our last full week of senior project, our group got a lot of work down with at the Merrimack County jail, setting up for our 3v3 basketball tournament, and helping with the Proctor 5k. We only got to go to the jail once during this week. We communicate with Marc Marchand on what days we should be attending and helping at the jail. When we went on Tuesday we got a good amount of work done. We spray painted the free throw line and the hand ball court. We ran out of supplies but were expecting to go again on Thursday but Marc wasn't there so we didn't go. Later on during that week we had our 3v3 basketball tournament. We have been planning for it since the beginning of senior project. When the day came we had all of our supplies but needed to get a few things from Trish like a table and basketballs. Everyone came on time and the games started right at 6:00. We sold a decent amount of drinks and few snacks to everyone playing and watching. The games were very intense and man

On Saturday, our group met in the training office to discuss about the Proctor 5k. We made copies of stickers that were going to be put on the racing numbers. On the sticker you could write down the time you got. It took quite awhile to take all of the stickers off and put them on the racing numbers and took us about an hour. Then race day came on Sunday and we had to wake up at 6:45. We helped set up the course and put down cones so the runners knew where to run. Also, We put out tables, water jugs, and cups for the runners. Then after the race we helped clean up the area and did all of this for two hours. We completed our 50 hours and have 50.5 hours going into the last few days of senior project.

For our senior project today we helped out Kelly by setting up for the 5k. Briefly we met in the training room and took a golf cart to the woodlands office. Then we got on an ATV and we went to the turf field where the race will be starting. We got a measuring wheel from Trish and used it to measure of each mile marker. Then at each mile, Kelly used rubber gloves as a marker so we know where to put the mile sign next time. After all of this, we counted and sorted out the 5k t-shirts in piles around the training room. We did all of this for 2 hours.

Senior project 5-16-19

Today for our senior project was a big day. We went to Newport to get the 5k t-shirts and then bring them to Kelly. After returning them to Kelly, we finalized what we were doing for the basketball tournament. We finalized the brackets and the rules. We had to rush after practice to dinner, so we could set up in time to start the games. The tournament started at 6 and ended at 8. To set up, we hung up the posters of the rules and bracket. Also, we had a table for selling drinks and snacks. People were making there final payments and others were buying drinks and snacks. A lot of people came to watch all the students play. In the end, everyone had a great time and we felt we did an awesome with the tournament.

Senior project 5-15-19

Today was a very good planning day for the Proctor 5k and finalizing for our basketball tournament. We met with Kelly and discussed what we needed to do in the up and coming days. We got the signs and cones that will be put down on the race day. After that we headed to lunch to get payments from almost everyone participating in the tournament. We took a break for a bit because of our afternoon activities. We decided we were changing some of the rules and switching the format of the tournament. We decided on a 1 game elimination and time of the games. It was a very good day and we got 3 hours of work done.
